During 2013–2015, StarSapphire team members contributed to a Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) Strategic Initiative on Accelerated Certification of Additively Manufactured Metals. The focus of the sub-task on data mining and uncertainty quantification was to investigate the use of techniques from data mining, such as design and analysis of computer experiments, feature selection, and machine learning, to build high-density additively manufactured parts.
